I haven't received a message telling me about a comment in lesson 1. There have been some problems with posting comments, technical problems but I have received the mails with the comments posted. Like your last one but not the one in lesson 1. Can you send the one in lesson 1 again?

  3. Analysis
“In company 3.0” is the course book I was assigned to. This course book is a new and latest edition of the previous book, named “In Company.”
The course book is published by McMillan in Company and its authors are; Mark Powell and Simon Clarke and Edward de Chazal and John Allison.
The aim of this course book is to provide the application of the language in the business world. It is focused on business trends, helping learners’ to acquire specific and practical vocabulary, in order to use it in everyday scenarios. It can be found different topics, such as “Gossiping at work”, “Collaboration”, “Persuasion”, “Stress”, etc. The course book also provides interactive and enjoyable activities to deal with.
It can be found a wide variety, concerning level of English on this new edition of books. We as teachers, have to choose carefully, and implement and develop the material according to the level of our learners. That is the reason why we can find 5 (five) different levels on these books. For example:
    • B, for Beginners. Or also known as Starter.
    • E, used for Elementary students.
    • PI, Pre-intermediate students.
    • I, Intermediate students.
    • UI, Upper-Intermediate students.
Each level of English deals with topics that are accessible buy at the same time, they present a challenge to the learner.
I considered the course book is useful for those teachers who are looking for new and accessible material in the business field. Besides providing course books, “In Company 3.0” By McMillan offers a platform where teachers and learners can access to audios, videos and interactive practice via online. Making the process, of teaching and learning, flexible and suitable for learners’ timetables.

    1. Celeste, I had to post your comment with my account because of tech problems. You were not supposed to analyse just a book but the catalogue of the publisher. But your analyses is ok since it was the only ESP book offered by this publisher.(Pass 10)

  4. ``Finding the right material´´
It is important that teachers, before starting their classes, should provide themselves with the appropriate material to work with during their lessons. Those materials should be based on the learner´s needs. But it can happen that using a single coursebook does not cover the student's needs. So, in this case, the teacher has to look for others books and mix and match the material needed.
Besides, teachers should add to their courses additional material according to the learners´ needs.
Nowadays, due to the technological advances, it is easier for teachers to find published coursebooks which offer photocopiable worksheets and classroom activities online.
For these reasons, there are lots of books that can be used by teachers in order to make their lessons suitable for students. In the following step, I'm going to describe some information from a particular publisher.
The name of the publisher is Cambridge English. This site provides a catalogue section in which there are some books concerning different resources from primary student´s to business professionals.
There are some books that offer: American English, British English and International English. The books shown have different format. For instance they can be: Books, Audio, Online & Online Blended, Mixed Media and Video.
The level of English of the books are:
    A1 Beginner/Basic
    A2 Low Intermediate
    B1 Intermediate
    B2 High Intermediate
    C1 Advanced

    1. Laura, as with Celeste, I had to post your comment because of tech problems. Your analysis and conclusions are great but some information is missing. You were supposed to check mainly the ESP offers of the publisher and write the different types of ESP books, such as books for business. Please, check this missing item again by visiting the site and complete your analysis with that information.

  7. Karla, you were lucky because your analysis was published. Well done! The name of the publisher is, in fact, Cengage Learning but now they are working with The National Geographic Learning division and that's why you see that name on the site. A very good analysis! 10(ten)
